Nate is an Aloe vera plant fitted with ultra-fine biometric sensors and an AI interpretation layer that translates the plant's internal electrical signals into a real-time, readable narrative of how it is responding to light and its surrounding environment.

Challenge
(01)
An Inaudible Conversation
Plants are constantly generating electrical activity in response to their environment, but that signaling is invisible and unintelligible to us, so the challenge was to capture the signals and then render it into something a person could actually read and relate to.

Solution
(02)
Sensing, Then Interpreting
I paired biometric sensors on the plant with an AI model that interprets the raw signal data and composes it into continuous, human-legible language, turning voltage fluctuations into an ongoing account of the plant's experience rather than a chart of numbers.

Conclusion
(03)
A Shared Ecological Language
The result is a working proposal for interspecies communication. A plant given a voice that people can follow in real time, as well as and a prompt to consider a future where human and plant communication are intertwined rather than separate.
