Plastic Dynamism is a set of three acrylic awards designed for Zeit Company that translate Umberto Boccioni's Futurist concept of the same name into physical objects, using advanced fabrication to evoke continuous motion and the fusion of form with environment.

Challenge
(01)
The Static Trophy
Awards are traditionally inert objects that commemorate achievement without expressing it, so the challenge was to take a century-old philosophy built around speed, transformation, and the dissolution of the boundary between object and surroundings, and make it manufacturable in acrylic at production scale.

Solution
(02)
Three Interpretations of Motion
I developed three distinct pieces, each isolating a different Futurist principle — Nebula, a seven-layer assembly whose gradient-printed circles resolve into an orb that appears to be forming or dissolving; Abyss, a 4:1:1 column finished in an ultra-black paint that absorbs 99.4% of visible light so the base vanishes into a dark room; and Odyssey, a parametrically modeled ripple surface cut on a 5-axis CNC mill and proportioned 1:4:9 after the monolith in 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Conclusion
(03)
Sculpture Instead of Trophy
Each award holds to a strict proportional system while using a different fabrication method — layered assembly, gradient printing and specialty coating, and multi-axis milling — demonstrating that a single design philosophy can be expressed through the material and process constraints of an existing manufacturer's production line.
